Multivariate Receptor Models and Model Uncertainty

چکیده
Estimation of the number of major pollution sources, the source composition profiles, and the source contributions is the main interest in multivariate receptor modeling. Due to lack of identifiability of the receptor model, however, the estimation cannot be done without some additional assumptions. A common approach to this problem is to estimate the number of sources, q, at the first stage, and then estimate source profiles and contributions at the second stage, given additional constraints (identifiability conditions) to prevent source rotation/transformation and the assumption that the q-source-model is correct. These assumptions on the parameters (the number of sources and identifiability conditions) are the main source of model uncertainty in multivariate receptor modeling. In this paper, we suggest a Bayesian approach to deal with model uncertainties in multivariate receptor models by using Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) schemes. Specifically, we suggest a method which can simultaneously estimate parameters (compositions and contributions), parameter uncertainties, and model uncertainties (number of sources and identifiability conditions). Simulation results and an application to air pollution data are presented.

Development of a Model for Locating Hubs in a Competitive Environment under Uncertainty: A Robust Optimization Approach
This article explores the development of previous models to determine hubs in a competitive environment. In this paper, by comparing parameters of the ticket price, travel time and the service quality of hub airports, airline hubs are divided into six categories. The degree of importance of travel time and travel cost are determined by a multivariate Lagrange interpolation method, which can pla...

Awareness of water demand is of particular importance for its policy in urban management. Predicting water demand in the future will allow managers to take the necessary measures regarding sustainable water supply, given the constraints and crises ahead. The purpose of this study is to compare multivariate regression and ARIMA models to predict water demand in Mashhad. In this study, first, the...
متن کاملRelative Efficiency Measurement of Banks Using Network DEA Model in Uncertainty Situation
Traditional DEA method considered decision making units (DMUs) as a black box, regardless of their internal structure and appraisal performance with respect to the final inputs and outputs of the units. However, in many real systems we have internal structure. For this reason, network DEA models have been developed. Parallel network DEA models are a special variation which inputs of unit alloca...
